My bigger concern is when we start getting into far more advanced and abstract math like calculus or trig or the like. It's great to hear another person disturbed by the simple-mindedness of popular culture. It's not like, say, History, where you can take U. What I realized with many of these fields, though, is that the part I'd most enjoy would be writing books about (insert one: economics, chemistry, math). I think I just threw up a little bit. This experience later lead me to like calculus and maths in general. For the one with an unprepared mind, Vedanta is like calculus for a person who is learning basic mathematics. When April rolled around, I was mired in a mass of studying: Spanish, Macroeconomics, Psychology, and Calculus. My freshman year in systems was similar to other engineers at Penn, in that I had the same type of general engineering requirements like calculus, physics, computer science and chemistry. EVERYTHING (almost) in ALL those courses comes back to haunt you in calculus! I enjoyed my calculus classes, even though I was nearly phobic of them at first, because they finally showed me why I had studied algebra all that time. History 1-A (beginnings to Civil War) and 1-B (Reconstruction to Present) in either order. Apparently putting the two together in a drink was like calculus to my brain.
